Four summer travel study excursions are planned by Metropolitan Programs and Summer Sessions in the College of Lifelong Learning at Wayne State University.
Students can travel to Europe, Africa, Florida or Lapeer, Mich., to study and earn university credit. Programs are open to undergraduates and graduate students.
Biological science Professors Curtis Swanson and Francis Sanders will teach comparative marine animal physiology and biochemistry courses May 5-19 at the Keys Marine Laboratory in Long Key, Fla. Hands-on research will focus on the marine environment and its related flora and fauna. Call Swanson at 577-2897 for information.
The biological sciences department offers summer field study at the Fish Lake Station of the Kresge Environmental Education Center in Lapeer. Sessions are planned June 2-21, June 23-July 12 and July 14-Aug. 2. Students can commute or stay in dormitories. For details call Professor Stanley Gangwere at 577-2887.
Rodolfo Martinez, associate professor of teacher education, will lead a seminar June 27-July 26 on the policy and practice of multicultural education in Europe. The itinerary includes Vienna, Budapest, Prague, Hamburg and the Netherlands. Students also will participate in the fifth International Conference on Adult Education. Students can study African history, culture and politics at the University of Ghana and in Senegal July 2-30 with Professor Eboe Hutchful of Africana studies. Participants will visit historical sites such as Goree Island, slave castles and the grave of W.E.B. Dubois. Call Hutchful at 577-2321.
