Professor Jack Kay of Livonia, communication department chairman at Wayne State University, joined 35 other college and university professors from across the country for C-SPAN's Winter 1997 Seminar for Professors Jan. 6-7 in Washington, DC.
The seminar encourages professors from various disciplines such as political science, journalism, speech, communication and public policy to focus on creative ways to use C-Span's public affairs programming in the classroom and in research.
C-SPAN in the Classroom, the cable television networks free national membership service for educators, selected Kay through a competitive application process open to all 4,900 member-professors. Participants presented and participated in workshops and panel discussions.
The service provides free support to educators who use the network's programming in teaching and research. Since the first seminar in 1987, more than 600 professors have visited Washington to participate.
