Wayne State helps retrain engineers for hybrid tech

Wayne State University and Michigan Technological University were selected in the fall to offer the first course of the Michigan Academy for Green Mobility, a program designed to retrain working and displaced automotive engineers for electric and hybrid-electric vehicle applications. "We are working on the batteries that are currently working in the vehicle, so that\'s the focus," said Chih Ping Yeh, chairman of the engineering technology division of Wayne State\'s College of Engineering. Yeh also directs the Michigan Academy for Green Mobility.

Wayne State has opened the new Macomb Education Center facility on the Macomb Community College's Clinton Township campus. "Wayne State agreed to open the Macomb Education Center because it met several of the university\'s expansion objectives, including an opportunity to be the leading four-year institution to serve the higher-education needs of Macomb County," Ahmad Ezzeddine, WSU's associate vice president for educational outreach and international programs, said in a statement. The campus is a hybrid facility where students in Macomb County can earn bachelor\'s degrees in 10 fields, including engineering, construction management, computer science and business. Master\'s degree programs also are available.

WSU medical school, DMC will continue care of poor

A study in Communication Currents, a publication of the National Communication Association, finds that food companies that promote discussions among employees about work goals and activities are more able to prevent food-related crises than those that do not. The study, co-authored by Wayne State University assistant professor of communication Julie M. The renovated 29,000-square-foot building, which formerly housed the Macomb County Reference and Research Center, includes a public computer lab, nine classrooms and four seminar rooms .
