Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign beats goal; Old Newsboys met theirs, too
The Salvation Army Eastern Michigan Division's 2010 Red Kettle Campaign met - and exceeded - its target for the first time since 2007. The campaign, which ran Nov. 12, 2010, through Jan. 31, raised more than $7.9 million, exceeding its $7.8 million goal, the organization said. The nonprofit provides holiday gift packages, shoes and emergency dental services for needy children, scholarships to Wayne State University and assistance to send hundreds of disadvantaged kids to camp each summer.
