Herman Gray, M.D., M.B.A., chair of the Wayne State University School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics, has been named to the inaugural cohort of Distinguished Healthcare Fellows by the Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee.
Dr. Gray, who received his master’s of business administration degree from the University of Tennessee, was recognized, along with 13 other graduates, as Distinguished Haslam Physician Executive M.B.A. and Executive M.B.A. Fellows and Distinguished Haslam Healthcare Leadership Fellows at the university.
"I am grateful to be included in the inaugural cohort of the University of Tennessee's Haslam Distinguished Healthcare Fellows program,” Dr. Gray said. “It is humbling to be associated with such accomplished physician health care leaders, who are making positive impacts on people's lives in many ways."
The alumni, all national leaders in the field of health care, will serve two-year terms as Distinguished Fellows for the two M.B.A. programs.
“We are proud to name them as our inaugural Distinguished Fellows in the PEMBA and EMBA-HL programs,” said Kate Atchley, Ph.D., distinguished lecturer in the University of Tennessee’s Haslam College of Business and executive director of the college’s executive-level M.B.A. programs. “As alumni, these leaders can serve as ambassadors for the programs, speaking to how the program develops students’ skills, knowledge and leadership abilities, as well as the bonds formed with fellow students and faculty, which endure long after their time here.”
The fellows will share with current students their health care leadership insights, connect with students during residencies and personal outreach, and will serve as Organizational Action Project advisors and subject matter experts for students.
