Janaki Patel, M.D., has joined the Wayne State University School of Medicine’s Department of Neurology as an assistant professor.
She started with the department Oct. 21.
Dr. Patel’s clinical interests include the treatment of stroke in young age, cardioembolic stroke, hypercoagulable states causing stroke, sickle cell disease, central nervous system vasculitis and stroke etiology analysis. Her research focus is on stroke epidemiology and racial disparities, with a focus on the use of interactive education models in teaching Neurology and Emergency Medicine physician trainees.
A member of the American Academy of Neurology, she received her bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience from the University of Pittsburgh in 2014, and her medical degree from the Rutgers University Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in 2019. Dr. Patel completed her Neurology residency at Wayne State University, and vascular neurology training at the University of Michigan.
