New Market Twenty 4 Seven opens in Scott Hall

Students look over just a few of the selections available at the newly installed Market Twenty 4 Seven in the Scott Hall Cafeteria.

Wayne State University School of Medicine students, faculty and staff welcomed a new food vending market, the first of its kind on the Wayne State University campus, to Scott Hall last week.

Officially opened and introduced during the March 21 Mix and Mingle with Dean Wael Sakr, M.D., the new Market Twenty 4 Seven replaces the FOODA, pop-up style restaurant lunch options. The fresh food option was secured through the contracted Wayne State vendor Continental. As the name implies, food and beverage options are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The new market offers an extensive variety of beverages and snacks, prepared sandwiches, snack combos and ice cream, as well as frozen selections that can be heated in the accompanying microwave ovens and toasters. The offerings include 1,000-plus name brand favorites, healthy meal options, go-to snacks, bakery treats, breakfast options and the full line of Pepsi beverage products. The market includes a Total 1 bean-to-cup coffee machine.

The new concept includes a self-serve kiosk pay-on-the-go setup. Patrons select food and beverage items, then pay at the kiosk.

The market will be restocked three to five times per week, with the stocking schedule based on demand and usage. The weekly available selections will rotate to encourage menu variety. The school has the opportunity to request specific product items.

Continental partnered with the Wayne State University School of Medicine and during the last several weeks installed the new market, customized to the needs of students, faculty and staff.
