The designated institutional officer works with the Graduate Medical Education Committee to oversee Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-accredited residency programs within the DMC.

“As DIO, I hope to strengthen the Detroit Medical Center’s longstanding academic and community partnerships while inspiring socially accountable physicians of tomorrow,” Dr. Weinberger said.

A 2006 graduate of the WSU School of Medicine who joined the faculty 2010, he also serves as director of the DMC/WSU Internal Medicine residency program. His interests include high value health care and clinical reasoning. He focuses, in his outpatient practice, on providing primary care to patients who are HIV positive.
