Jun Li, M.D., Ph.D., chair of the Wayne State University School of Medicine’s Department of Neurology, will serve as the official board liaison to the American Neurological Association/National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke Career Development Symposium Planning Committee.
Justin McArthur, M.B.B.S., M.P.H., and Frances Jensen, M.D., president and president-elect, respectively, of the ANA, requested that Dr. Li, a member of the association’s board of directors, serve in the role.
The Career Development Symposium Planning Committee, Dr. Li said, connects all junior neurology/neuroscience faculty who are funded by National Institutes of Health Career Development awards (K-award series). The awardees gather during ANA’s annual meeting.
“They will hear presentations as well as receive one-to-one mentoring by nationally-eminent neuroscience scholars,” Dr. Li said. “They will also meet key NIH stakeholders who will coach them about NIH-funded studies and how to develop into independent investigators.”
Dr. Li will represent the ANA board in organizing the symposium, which will allow him to interact with leading junior physician-scientists and NIH leaders.
