Kalyan Yarraguntla, M.D., M.S., has joined the faculty of the Department of Neurology at the Wayne State University School of Medicine as a clinical assistant professor.
He joined the department Oct. 1.
A member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis, his clinical and research interests include multiple sclerosis, neuromyelitis optica, transverse myelitis, optic neuritis, neurosarcoidosis, autoimmune encephalitis and other immune-mediated inflammatory conditions affecting the brain and spinal cord. He also pursues clinical studies, immunomodulator clinical trials and transitional research that involves advanced neuroimaging techniques to study neuroimmune conditions.
Dr. Yarraguntla earned his M.B.B.S degree in 2008 at the N.R.I. Medical College and General Hospital, NTR University of Health Sciences, Chinakakani, Andhra Pradesh, in India. He earned a master’s degree in Neuroscience at the University of Hartford in Connecticut in 2013. He completed a Neurology residency at the Detroit Medical Center/Wayne State University School of Medicine in 2023, followed by a Multiple Sclerosis/Neuroimmunology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in 2024.
