Wayne Pediatrics is hosting a backpack and school supply drive now through Aug. 1 in preparation for its annual Health Fair, set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 3 in the parking lot of the practice’s building, located at 400 Mack Ave. in Detroit. 

The event aims to provide essential health services, resources and support to families in the community, including $30 on-site sports physicals and mobile dental cleaning services. Fun activities include a bounce house, Kona Ice treats and a gaming truck.

The practice also plans to distribute backpacks and school supplies to those who attend.

“As part of our efforts to ensure that children in our community are well-prepared for the upcoming school year, we are organizing a backpack and school supply drive. We are reaching out to our valued partners to request their support in donating backpacks and school supplies,” said Wayne Pediatrics Practice Manager Samona Owens.

Requested items include:

- Backpacks

- Notebooks

- Pencils and pens

- Crayons and markers

- Folders and binders

- Glue sticks and scissors

- Other essential school supplies
