Pediatrics Research Day winners announced

The fourth annual Pediatrics Research Day at the Wayne State University School of Medicine attracted more than 70 attendees to the Mazurek Medical Education Commons to explore a variety of presentations related to children’s health.

The May 10 event featured six oral presentations and 20 poster presentations.

Hilary Marusak, Ph.D., assistant professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences, gave the keynote address.

Award winners included:

Oral presentations

First place: Presenter Raisa Zahair, “Analyzing the Interplay of HIV with Lifetime Prevalence of Sexual and Physical Assault for Youth”

Second place: Presenter Anjani Raja, “What is the Relationship Between Air Pollution and Pediatric Neurological Syndromes in the Metro Detroit Area?”

Poster presentations

First place: Presenter Abigail Relich, “Assessment of Breastfeeding Education in Medical Training”

Second place: Presenter Martina Gjonaj, “Leveraging Asset Mapping for Targeted Needs Assessment in the Children’s Health Collaborative Initiative”
