Kara Patek, M.D., has joined the Wayne State University School of Medicine’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology as a clinical assistant professor.
Dr. Patek, a member of the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, joined the department Aug. 1.
Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Patek received a bachelor’s degree in Anatomy and Cell Biology from McGill University in 2010, and her medical degree from the Trinity College Dublin School of Medicine in 2016. She completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Wayne State University/Detroit Medical Center in 2020 and a Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship at Beaumont Health in 2023.
She won the WSU/DMC Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology Award in 2017, 2018 and 2020; the WSU/DMC Society of Maternal-Fetal Medicine Award in 2020; and the WSU/DMC Family Planning Award in 2017.
