Apply now for 2023 summer research program for high school students

The 2023 Biomedical Career Advancement Pipeline Program, a summer research experience at the Wayne State University School of Medicine for high school students in grades 10 through 12 interested in pursuing health science careers, is accepting applications.

The BCAP is a collaborative program between the Michigan Area Health Education's Southeast Regional Center, Wayne State University, Health Centers Detroit Inc., Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network, Detroit Public Schools Community District and the City of Detroit.

Students engage in open dialogue with health science students and professionals to gain first-hand information and practical advice on various career paths, receive training to conduct research at Wayne State, learn to apply common laboratory techniques to understand human disease, participate in activities to develop writing and presentation skills, meet like-minded individuals on the same career path, and are mentored by university faculty and graduate students.

Students spend 20 hours a week working on a research project, and attend weekly workshops and trainings.

Student orientation is set for June 10. The program is held June 26-Aug. 4. Students present their research project on the final day of the program.

The application deadline is Feb. 20. Apply here.
