The Detroit Medical Orchestra, based at the Wayne State University School of Medicine, is recruiting musicians for its 2022-2023 season.
Most openings are in the string sections.
The orchestra rehearses from 7 to 9:30 p.m. in the Margherio Conference Room at Scott Hall on the WSU School of Medicine campus. The orchestra performs three full symphony concerts each year, in addition to a number of chamber concert performances.
The orchestra, formed by a group of Wayne State University School of Medicine students and faculty musicians in 2010, is a 60-member orchestra consisting of medical students, medical school faculty, physicians, nursing staff and other health care professionals. Membership is open to anyone in the health field.
The non-profit organization explores the connections between music and healing, fosters partnerships among medical and health care professionals, and provides community services and community arts services to improve the quality of life in Detroit.
Those interested in joining should contact Michael Cher, M.D., chair of the Department of Urology, at mcher@med.wayne.edu.
