World Health Student Organization is hosting donation drive and fundraiser for Ukraine

The Wayne State University School of Medicine’s World Health Student Organization is conducting a donation drive and fundraiser so that students, faculty and staff can donate medical and humanitarian supplies to support the people of Ukraine.

Suggested food and baby supplies include rice, pasta, instant oatmeal, canned or dried meat and fish, nut butters, instant coffee, crackers, dry beans, nuts, baby formula, shelf-stable whole milk, baby food, diapers of various sizes, baby wipes, and baby and children’s ibuprofen or acetaminophen.

Any and all medical supplies are also urgently needed, including wound dressings, surgical and operating room supplies, defibrillators, catheters, decompression combat needles and more.

Donations may be dropped in the donation box located in the Scott Hall cafeteria. To drop off larger donations, contact medical student Oksana Doubrovski at fo0005@wayne.edu to arrange a pick-up time and location.

The organization is also selling white coat pins of the Ukrainian flag. Fill out the form here to order your pin for a minimum donation of $8 per pin. For students, pins will be distributed to mailboxes on the second floor of Scott Hall in the next few weeks.

Monetary donations may be given through the following organizations:

  • Razom for Ukraine. Razom is a 501(c)(3) organization and donations/gifts are deductible to the full extent allowable under IRS regulations. Donate here.
  • The Michigan branch of the Ukrainian Medical Association of North America is raising funds to purchase medical equipment for physicians practicing in Kharkiv, Ukraine, via a gofundme.

Those interested in collaborating on fundraisers for other global health issues may reach out to the World Health Student Organization at hj1209@wayne.edu.
