It’s time to join a virtual Warrior Heart Walk team

Wayne State University is gearing up to support the American Heart Association’s 2021 Heart Walk. This year the walk will be virtual, and we have a number of fun heart smart activities planned leading up to the walk.

The Heart Walk will take place May 15 – you pick the time and the place.

Before the walk, there will be a “Move More” initiative in which participants can track the minutes they walk on the American Heart Association’s app from April 16 through the day of the walk. Top walkers with the most minutes submitted will be eligible for prizes.

We are planning a few fun healthy cooking “shows” with Wayne State’s Anne-Marie Poltorak, assistant to the vice president for Research, certified chef and former television cooking show chef. Stay tuned for more heart healthy activities as we gear up for this year’s walk.

Wayne State’s goal is to have 1,000 registered walkers representing the university May 15 to help raise $50,000. Team captains from across the university will be reaching out to invite you to join in this important activity and help raise money for a very important cause.

Not only is this a fun way to engage with your fellow faculty, staff and students, it also supports a mission that is near and dear to many. This is about affecting the lives of those who mean the most to us. Let’s band together and make this the best Virtual Detroit Heart Walk ever.
