The results are in: Meet the School of Medicine’s top ‘mask influencers’

Mask Up Winners
From left are mask motto winners Arif Musa, Enxhi Lalo, Alexis Faber and Alana Pelica.

Mask wearers are winners, and so are these students who submitted the most popular mottos in the Wayne State University School of Medicine’s “10 Words or Less” mask influencer competition:

First place: Arif Musa (Class of 2022) - “Not all heroes wear capes, but all heroes wear masks!”

Second place: Enxhi Lalo (Class of 2024) - “For our patients, for our peers, for Detroit. Warriors wear masks.”

Third place: Alexis Faber (Class of 2021) and Alana Pelica (WSU College of Liberal Arts and Sciences pre-medicine undergraduate) - “Spread Kindness. Not Covid. Mask up!”

The top 10 finalists were selected by a committee of faculty, students and staff, with the top three winning an Amazon gift card. The top three vote-getters will win an Amazon gift card. The winning ideas will be used in ongoing communication and promotional materials to encourage mask-wearing while on the medical campus.

Wearing a face covering over your nose and mouth is required while on campus at Wayne State University per the coronavirus health and safety guidelines.

Until a vaccine is available, the most effective way to protect yourself and others is to be 100% consistent in wearing a face covering in all indoor and outdoor areas on campus. Information on proper use of face coverings is available at the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention website.
