Michigan Dermatological Society meeting at WSU Nov. 6.

The Wayne State University School of Medicine Department of Dermatology will host its annual Michigan Dermatological Society meeting at the Richard J. Mazurek, M.D., Medical Education Commons on Nov. 6.

This year’s keynote speaker, giving the 42nd annual Hermann Pinkus Lecture, is Jouni Uitto, M.D., Ph.D. He will present “The Molecular Landscape of Epidermolysis Bullosa – Clinical Implications.”

Dr. Uitto is professor of Dermatology and Cutaneous Biology, and Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and chair of the Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Biology at Jefferson Medical College, in Philadelphia. He is also the director of the Jefferson Institute of Molecular Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University.

Dr. Uitto is internationally recognized for his research on connective tissue biochemistry and molecular biology in relation to cutaneous diseases. His publications include 719 original articles in peer-reviewed journals, 343 textbook chapters and review articles and 1,048 abstracts or presentations at national and international meetings.

7 to 7:30 a.m.: Registration, coat check and breakfast (Margherio Family Conference Center)
7 to 8:30 a.m.: Slide Review (Kado Clinical Skills Center)
8:30 to 10 a.m.: Case Presentations and Patient Examination (Kado Skills Center)
10 to 10:15 a.m.: Presentations and Lecture (Green Lecture Hall)
10:15-11 a.m.: Dermatology Senior Resident Presentations (10 minutes each)
11 a.m. to noon: 42nd annual Hermann Pinkus Lecture (Green Lecture Hall)
12:30 to 1:30 p.m.: Society Business Meeting (Green Lecture Hall)
12:30 to 1:30 p.m.: Resident Luncheon and Lecture, “Heritable Ectopic Mineralization Disorders: The Paradigm of PXE” (Margherio Conference Center)
