Save the date: Pathology's annual symposium "Contemporary Issues in Hematopathology: Clinicopathological Perspectives" is Nov. 2-3

The Wayne State University Department of Pathology's annual symposium and A. Martin Lerner Endowed Lecture Series, "Contemporary Issues in Hematopathology: Clinicopathological Perspectives," will take place Nov. 2 and 3.

On Nov. 2, a half-day slide seminar will be presented from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Margherio Family Conference Center at the WSU School of Medicine.
The Nov. 3 program will take place at The Henry Hotel in Dearborn.

The Nov. 3 schedule includes:

11:20 to 11:50 a.m.: "The Impact of Pathologic Testing on Clinical Decision Making in Lymphoma Treatment," Rod Ramchandren, M.D.

1 to 1:35 p.m.: "Recent Advances in the Flow Cytometric Analysis of Hematopoietic Neoplasms," David Dorfman, M.D., Ph.D.

1:35 to 2 p.m.: "Pathophysiology of Graft vs Host Disease: The Paradox of Benefit and Toxicity in Allogeneic Transplantation," Joseph Uberti, M.D., Ph.D.

2 to 3:15 p.m.: "Interdisciplinary Clinicopathological Discussion of Interesting Cases" (Selected from Southeast Michigan Health Systems), Lauren Smith, M.D.

Eric Hsi, M.D., section head of Hematopathology and chair of Laboratory Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic.

Bharat Nathwani, M.D., professor and director of Pathology Consultation Services at City of Hope Medical Center, Durate, Calif.

Lauren Smith, M.D., associate professor of Hematopathology, Hematopathology fellowship director and director of Hematopathology, Clinical Pathology at the University of Michigan.

Ali Gabali, M.D., Ph.D., associate professor and section chief of Hematopathology in the WSU Department of Pathology.

Ayad Al-Katib, M.D., professor of WSU Internal Medicine.

Rod Ramchandren, M.D., associate professor of WSU Medicine and Oncology, and head of the Lymphoma Program at the Barbara Ann, Karmanos Cancer Center.
