The Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute and the Wayne State University School of Medicine will present the 13th annual State of the Art Treatment of Gastrointestinal Cancers on Oct. 27 at the Somerset Inn in Troy.

The symposium includes nationally-renowned physicians who will present the latest advances and future challenges in the field of gastrointestinal oncology. The seminar will focus on the multidisciplinary approach to gastrointestinal cancer and neuroendocrine tumors, and will include case-based interactive audience participation.

Discussion topics will include hereditary gastrointestinal malignancy syndromes, screening for high-risk GI cancers, liver metastases, adjuvant treatment of colon cancer, new progress in treating primary liver cancers, molecular therapeutics, major advances in neuroendocrine tumor treatment and immunotherapy for gastrointestinal cancers.
