Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology's 'Wayne Day' seminar is Dec. 4 in Detroit

The Wayne State University School of Medicine's Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology will present "Wayne Day 2018, Honoring Kamran S. Moghissi, M.D., Family Planning 202 and Beyond!" on Dec. 4 at the Greektown Hotel and Conference Center in Detroit.

Seminar topics will include discussing appropriate contraceptive techniques in patients with multiple comorbidities, understanding the city of Detroit Health Department's goal for reducing unplanned pregnancies, discussing the safety of common approaches to surgical abortion and exploring various methods for male and female sterilization.

The day's program includes:

7:30 to 8 a.m.: Registration and continental breakfast

8 to 8:15 a.m.: Welcome and program overview, Samet Albayrak, M.D., and Jay Berman, M.D.

8:15 to 8:30 a.m.: Remarks

8:30 to 9:15 a.m.: "iDecide Detroit," Suzanne White, M.D., M.B.A., and Megan Boyce, M.P.H.

9:15 to 10 a.m.: "D&E is Still a Critical Part of Family Planning," Michael Hertz, M.D., M.P.H.

10 to 10:30 a.m.: Break with exhibitors

10:30 to 11:15 a.m.: "Updates in Medical Management of Abortion and Miscarriage," Mitchell Creinin, M.D.

11:15 am to noon: the Kamran S. Moghissi, M.D., Lecture, "U.S. Social Polarization and Reproductive Health," Lisa Harris, M.D., Ph.D.

Noon to 12:15 p.m.: Panel discussion

12:15 to 1:30 p.m.: Lunch and interactive hands-on exhibits

1:30 to 2:15 p.m.: "Permanent Contraception in Males," Amarnath Rambhatla, M.D.

2:15 to 3 p.m.: "Permanent Contraception in Females," Samet Albayrak, M.D.

3 to 3:30 p.m.: Panel discussion, question-and-answer session

Advance registration is recommended as space is limited. Pre-registration fees are $125 for physicians and clinicians, $50 for residents, fellows and nurses, and $25 for medical students. Pre-registration ends Nov. 20. Onsite registration the day of the seminar is $150.
