Hefner joins AHA Midwest Board of Directors

David S. Hefner, vice president of Health Affairs for Wayne State University, has been appointed to the board of directors of the American Heart Association, Midwest Affiliate, for a two-year term.

Hefner will help lead the association in building healthier lives free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke through oversight of local revenue generation and health impact activities.

He and his wife, Joan, have worked closely for the past 15 years with the AHA to support the organization's mission. They were strong supporters and promoters of the Metro Detroit Heart Walk that took place May 12 on Wayne State University's campus.

As a member of the Midwest Affiliate Board of Directors, Hefner will help oversee the association's efforts in an 11-state region comprised of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

The American Heart Association is the world's leading voluntary health organization devoted to fighting cardiovascular disease.
