WSU and Karmanos present inaugural Lymphoma Symposium Sept. 8

The Wayne State University School of Medicine and the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute will present their inaugural Lymphoma Symposium on Sept. 8 at the Dearborn Inn.

The state-of-the-art clinically-based expert panel review on the current and future management of lymphoma will include discussions on follicular lymphoma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia and small lymphocytic lymphoma, T-Cell lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma, Mantle cell lymphoma, the Lymphoma Research Collaboration and Diffuse Large B-Cell lymphoma.

The symposium, to be held at the Dearborn Inn, includes nationally renowned physicians who will present the latest advances and future challenges in the field of lymphoma. The seminar will focus on the multidisciplinary approach and will include case-based interactive audience participation. The symposium provides an excellent opportunity to get answers to challenging clinical questions as well as information on cutting edge treatments and the latest in clinical trials.

The agenda includes:

7 to 8 a.m.: Registration and welcome breakfast
8 to 8:15 a.m.: Introduction and Opening Remarks by program chairs Radhakrishnan Ramchandren, M.D., and Tycel Phillips, M.D.
8:15 to 8:35 a.m.: Follicular Lymphoma, Mark Kaminski, M.D., and Joseph Uberti, M.D., Ph.D.
8:40 to 9 a.m.: CLL and SLL, Erlene Seymour, M.D., and Charles Schiffer, M.D.
9 to 9:20 a.m.: Break/question and answer period.
9:25 to 9:45 a.m.: T-Cell Lymphoma, Ryan Wilcox, M.D., Ph.D., and Ali Gabali, M.D., Ph.D.
9:50 to 10:10 a.m.: Hodgkin Lymphoma, Radhakrishnan Ramchandren, M.D., and Hussein Aoun, M.D.
10:15 to 10:30 a.m.: Break/question and answer period.
10:35 to 11:25 a.m.: Mantle Cell Lymphoma, Tycel Phillips, M.D., and Monalisa Ghosh, M.D.
11:30 to 11:50 a.m.: Case Presentations.
Noon to 1 p.m.: Lunch.
12:30 to 1 p.m.: The Lymphoma Research Collaboration of Michigan, Radhakrishnan Ramchandren, M.D., and Tycel Phillips, M.D.
1 to 2 p.m.: Highlighted Presentation Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma, Sumana Devata, M.D.; Ali Mahdi Gabali, M.D., Ph.D.; and Abhinav Deol, M.D.
2 to 2:30 p.m.: Closing remarks, Radhakrishnan Ramchandren, M.D., and Tycel Phillips, M.D.

The cost is $75 for physicians; $25 for nurses, physician extenders, retired physicians and all other allied health care providers; and $20 for residents, fellows and students.

Online registration will be open until Aug. 30. After that date all registration must be done onsite the day of the event. Registering the day of the event will cost an additional $25.
