Detroit Medical Orchestra's annual Chamber Music Collage Concert set for Saturday

The Detroit Medical Orchestra will present its third annual Chamber Music Collage Concert on Feb. 24 at at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, 4800 Woodward Ave., at the corner of Woodward and Warren.

This concert will showcase the talents of Detroit Medical Orchestra musicians performing in a variety of chamber music ensembles, presenting works by several composers, including Ravel, Beethoven, Faure, Biber, Tchaikovsky, Crisostomo and Thuille.

The following selections will be performed during the 7 p.m. concert:

String Sextet in D Minor, "Souvenir de Florence," Movement I - Allegro con spirit by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky

"Maid with the Flaxen Hair" by Claude Debussy

"Pavane" by Gabriel Faure

"Duo for Violin and Cello, Movement I - Allegro serioso, non troppo" by Zolton Kodaly

"Elegie, Opus 24 for Cello and Piano" by Gabriel Faure

"Sextet in B Flat Major, Opus 6, Movement I - Allegro Moderato" by Ludwig Thuille

"Battalia a 10 in D major, C. 61" by Heinrich Biber

"String Quartet No. 1 in E-flat major, Movement I - Allegro" by Juan Crisostomo Arriaga

"Clarinet Trio in B-flat major, Opus 11, Movement II - Adagio, Movement III - Tema con variazioni" by Ludwig van Beethoven

"Introduction et Allegro for Harp, Flute, Clarinet and String Quartet" by Maurice Ravel

Admission is free. Convenient free parking is available in the Cathedral Church of St. Paul parking lot, located behind the church with entrance off of Warren Avenue.

Donations will be collected to help support the DMO's mission of "Bringing Healing Through Music" as well as to benefit the enriching art-centered neighborhood programs provided by Crescendo Detroit.

Crescendo Detroit offers comprehensive after-school and summer education programs in instrumental and vocal music and dance for youth that promote positive character building and foster a love for and participation in the arts. The organization's programs also include literacy and life skills classes, homework support and daily meals within the context of neighborhood and community collaboration.
