'Brain Candy' 2017 now available online

The student editors of "Brain Candy," the Wayne State University School of Medicine's journal of art and literature, have announced that the 2017 edition is now available online.

The journal, produced by the Gold Humanism Honor Society, showcases original fiction, nonfiction, essays, poetry, photography, drawings and paintings by students, residents and faculty of the School of Medicine.

"The mission of this journal is to highlight the creative vision and voices of our students, physicians and all medical personnel," said fourth-year medical student Sakeena Fatima, who, with Saara Mohammed, Moaz Sinan, Kristy Abraham and Brian Krasnick, served as editors for the 2017 edition.

The latest edition can be viewed here.

Calls for submissions for the next edition, Fatima said, will be announced in upcoming editions of the Warrior Medicine Newsletter.

Nearly all submissions are published, cost permitting. Each submission in considered individually and in relation to the journal as a whole. A word-count maximum may be suggested depending on the nature of the submission and the needs of the journal.

Fatima said students interested in working on the next edition and serving on the editorial board should contact her at sfatima@med.wayne.edu.
