Tickets on sale for WHSO's annual Health for Holidays benefit

Give back and have a jolly good time at the Wayne State University School of Medicine World Health Student Organization's sixth annual Health for the Holidays fundraiser, set for 6:30 p.m. Nov. 29 at The Eastern, 3434 Russell St., Detroit.

The event will include a catered dinner, cash bar, live music from the Ultrasounds a capella group, a silent auction and a raffle for a "Barrel of Cheer" featuring select wine and liquors.

Health for the Holidays raises awareness of global health disparities and WHSO's medical mission work. Proceeds from ticket sales, donation, raffles and the silent auction will support the organization's four upcoming trips to Haiti, Nicaragua and Panama.

The WHSO sends teams of medical students, pharmacy students, residents and physicians to developing countries to perform sustainability projects, research and public health education with underserved populations in Latin America.

Guest speakers will include Grace Hsia, chief executive officer for Warmilu, a non-electric warming technology company that makes blankets for African infants. Warmilu was recently featured on WXYZ-TV (Channel 7 in Detroit). Watch the video here.

Tickets are $40 per person. Make a reservation by Nov. 21 at the following link: https://world-health-student-organization.ticketleap.com/h4h/
