Music festival fundraiser to benefit Timmy Global Health

Timmy Global Health, a Wayne State University School of Medicine student organization, will host the Timmy WSU "GoOn Fest" from 7 to 10 p.m. Oct. 6 at the Detroit Institute of Music Education, 719 Griswold St., Detroit. The musical festival will feature local artists from the metropolitan Detroit area.

The festival was founded with the vision of creating an outlet for local artists to showcase their talent and passion for music while being a catalyst for growth within the next generation of musical artists from Detroit.

The festival will feature music of varying genres, from acoustic guitar to rap and techno. Proceeds from Timmy WSU GoOn Fest 2017 will be applied to expand Timmy WSU's efforts to extend access to health care in Detroit and in Monte Cristi, Dominican Republic.

Festival tickets are $7 to $15. To purchase, visit EventBrite.
