WSU's Plant Based Nutrition group hosts Dr. Kim Williams on March 29

Kim Williams, M.D., former head of American College of Cardiology, will present "Taking the Die Out of Diet" on March 29 from noon - 1 p.m. in the Wayne State University School of Medicine Scott Hall's Green Auditorium. All are welcome.

The lecture is hosted by the Plant Based Nutrition group, and will also touch on preventative medicine and cardiology.

Dr. Williams has eaten a plant-based diet since 2003 and has written articles on his views of using plant-based nutrition as preventative medicine for cardiovascular benefits.

He graduated from the University of Chicago in 1975 and the Pritzker School of Medicine at the University of Chicago in 1979. He has board certifications in internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases, nuclear medicine, nuclear cardiology and cardiovascular computed tomography. He has served on the faculty of the Pritzker School of Medicine, and as the former Dorothy Susan Timmis Endowed Professor and chair of the division of cardiology at the WSU School of Medicine.

Since 2013, he has served as a professor at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, and chief of the division of Cardiology. Dr. Williams also was president of the American College of Cardiology and American Society of Nuclear Cardiology. He is a member of numerous organizations, including chairman of Coalition of Cardiovascular Organizations and board member of Association of Black Cardiologists.
