Joshua Rivers - AIM HIGHER IN ACTION

"We're in the heart of a city with so much need. I'm at Wayne State because this is where I can do the most good."
Joshua has overcome unthinkable hardship to pursue his M.D. at Wayne State University. Born and raised in Detroit, this first-generation college student has turned a passion for helping others into a promising medical career. While serving his peers as president of the Black Medical Association, a student representative on the Diversity Advisory Council and a mentor to aspiring medical students, he also volunteers with Street Medicine Detroit, Cass Clinic, Blight Busters and local soup kitchens. To build on his research experience, he will spend the next year in the National Institutes of Health's prestigious Medical Research Scholars Program.

Joshua is what it looks like to aim higher.
