Dr. Kamat publishes fifth book on child health

Deepak Kamat, M.D., Ph.D., F.A.A.P., professor of Pediatrics for the Wayne State University School of Medicine, has published his fifth book, "Challenging Cases in Pediatric Diagnosis: Cases From Pediatrics in Review, Index of Suspicion and Visual Diagnosis."

The real-life cases detailed in the book, published by the American Academy of Pediatrics, are the top 100 cases from the Pediatrics in Review journal, compiled to serve as a valuable mini-reference and learning tool.

"I am honored that the American Academy of Pediatrics selected me to be the editor of this book," said Dr. Kamat, who also serves as vice chair of Education for the Carman and Ann Adams Department of Pediatrics at Children's Hospital of Michigan. "My hope is that teachers across the world would use cases discussed in this book to teach future generations of pediatricians to improve the health of children all over the world."

The director of the Institute of Medical Education and program director for the International Health Pathway and Pediatric Global Health Certificate program also edited "Quick Reference Guide for Pediatric Care" and the "Textbook of Pediatric Global Health" for the AAP. He co-edited the "American Academy of Pediatrics Textbook for Pediatric Care."

Dr. Kamat is the lead editor of the "Point-of-Care Quick Reference on Pediatric Care Online," a first of its kind in pediatric medicine. The reference is an integrated point of care service available on handheld devices that can be used by physicians at patient bedside.
