Tickets for annual Lampoon now on sale

The Aesculapians, the honor society of the Wayne State University School of Medicine, will let off a little steam and poke some fun while helping a Detroit organization next month with the annual Lampoon.

"InDEANcision 2016" is scheduled for April 16 at the Majestic Theater, 4120 Woodward Ave., Detroit. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m.

Lampoon consists of tongue-in-cheek skits and videos produced by members of the four medical classes. Each class produces about 20 minutes of material parodying medical school life for the evening's entertainment.

The fun has a serious side. Lampoon raises about $10,000 annually for organizations that make like in Detroit better. This year Lampoon will benefit Back Alley Bikes, a 501(c)3 non-profit community bike shop that been operating in the Cass Corridor for 15 years. The organization's mission is to provide cycling education and services with a focus on youth development, sustainable practices and community access. In addition to the fundraising and proceeds from Lampoon, the Aesculapians have been supporting Bike Alley Bikes this year by volunteering in its workshop and during community bike rides.

Ticket prices through April 7 at $15 for general admission or $35 for VIP tickets, which include food and two drink tickets. After April 7, tickets are $20 and $45. Tickets can be purchased at http://www.aesculapians.org/buy-tickets.html.
