Dr. Abramowicz publishes new guide to first-trimester ultrasound practices

A Wayne State University School of Medicine professor, has just published the definitive guide to the use of ultrasound during the most critical period of fetal development.

"First-Trimester Ultrasound: A Comprehensive Guide," by Jacques Abramowicz, M.D., F.A.C.O.G., F.A.I.U.M., professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and director of Ultrasound Services for the School of Medicine and the Wayne State University Physician Group, is now available.

Published by Springer International Publishing, the 408-page book contains unique and focused study of the use of ultrasound during the first trimester. It includes basic examination guidelines as well as cutting-edge ultrasound modalities, including Doppler and three-dimensional ultrasound, for the period immediately preceding conception through early embryology. The book discusses screening for aneuploidy, ectopic pregnancy, molar pregnancy and the presence of pelvic masses.

Dr. Abramowicz, renowned nationally and internationally as an expert in obstetric and gynecologic diagnostic ultrasound with special expertise in ultrasound bio effects and safety, is director of the Center for Fetal Diagnosis and Therapy, and director of Reproductive Genetics in the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine for the WSU Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

He is the author of two books and 18 book chapters, and 156 peer-reviewed publications in scientific journals.
