Registration open for 24th annual James M. Pierce Jr., M.D., Memorial Lectureship

The Wayne State University Department of Urology will present the 24th annual James M. Pierce Jr., M.D., Memorial Lectureship on Oct. 23.

The event will take place at The Henry, Autograph Collection Hotel in Dearborn, Mich., from 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The schedule is below:

7:45 to 8 a.m.: Continental breakfast and registration.

8 to 8:30 a.m.: Welcome and introduction, "Michigan Urologic Surgery Improvement Collaborative," by Michael Cher, M.D., chair of Wayne State University Urology.

8:30 to 9 a.m.: "Prostate MRI Basics with Introduction to PI-RADS Version-2," by Jason Domina, M.D., WSU Body Imaging/Interventional Oncology clinical assistant professor of Radiology and Oncology.

9 to 9:30 a.m.: "Urologic Malignancies in Patients with End Stage Renal Disease," by Steven Lucas, M.D., WSU assistant professor of Urology.

9:30 to 10 a.m.: "New Techniques and Technologies in Laparoscopy," by Chad Tracy, M.D., associate professor of Urology and director of Minimally Invasive Surgery, Robotics and Endourology at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

10 to 10:30 a.m.: Break.

10:30to 11 a.m.: "Current Use of Mesh in Urology," by Shiva Maralani, M.D., hospital practicing urologist for Henry Ford, St. John and William Beaumont hospitals, and clinical instructor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and of Family Practice at St. John Hospital and Medical Center.

11 a.m. to noon: "Preventative Dietary Strategies for Stone Prevention," by keynote lecturer Margaret Pearle, M.D., professor and vice chair of Urology, with a dual appointment as professor of Internal Medicine in the Mineral Metabolism Center at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.

Noon to 1 p.m.: Lunch.

1 to 1:30 p.m.: "Optimal Treatment of Large Renal Stones: From Ureteroscope to Laparoscope," by Dr. Tracy.

1:30 to 2 p.m.: "Kidney Stones in Pregnancy," by Jeffrey Triest, M.D., WSU assistant professor of Urology and director of Endoscopic Surgery and Laparoscopy, and chief of Urology for Harper University Hospital.

2 to 3 p.m.: "PCNL: Where are we in 2015?," by Dr. Pearle.

3 to 3:30 p.m.: Closing comments.
