Gwendolyn Graddy, M.D., F.A.C.P., Class of 1984, was named Crain's Detroit Business magazine's 2015 Health Care Hero in the Physician category.

Dr. Graddy is the medical director of PACE Southeast Michigan, a nonprofit health care organization co-sponsored by Henry Ford Health System and Presbyterian Villages of Michigan. PACE, or Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly, works to keep the elderly in their homes by providing care and services in the home, the community and at its day health center.

The Crain's article details how Dr. Graddy decided to become a physician as a teenager when her grandfather died of metastatic prostate cancer.

Dr. Graddy, who has served as a staff physician with Henry Ford Medical Group, became medical director of PACE in 2001. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics and is a fellow of the American College of Physicians. She joined the Henry Ford Health System in 1987, and developed a model for the Geriatric Assessment Clinic, which identified and managed services for frail elderly. She also developed an educational model to teach primary care physicians and health care providers the basics of geriatrics. She was the principle investigator for the Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Health Care Detroit Partnership to address health disparities.
