WSU graduate student wins second in Pharmacology Research Colloquium

Jonathan Diedrich, a graduate student in the Cancer Biology Program at the Wayne State University School of Medicine, received the second place prize for his poster presentation at the Pharmacology Research Colloquium at the University of Toledo.

Diedrich's presentation, "Bone marrow adipocyte-supplied factors regulate metabolism of metastatic prostate cancer cells," was based on his dissertation research with Izabela Podgorski, Ph.D., associate professor of Pharmacology and Oncology.

The Pharmacology Research Colloquium, which took place June 12,  is an annual one-day meeting of graduate students, post-doctoral students and faculty from the pharmacology departments of Wayne State University, Michigan State University, the University of Michigan and the University of Toledo. The colloquium has been held annually since 1972.

The next meeting, tentatively scheduled for June 2016, will be at the University of Michigan. Wayne State University is slated to host the 2017 colloquium.
