Theodore Schreiber, M.D., has been appointed chief of the Wayne State University Physician Group's Division of Cardiology, effective July 1.
Dr. Schreiber, a prominent leader in the field of general and interventional cardiology, also joins the Wayne State University School of Medicine faculty as a professor of Internal Medicine.
A graduate of Cornell University Medical College, Dr. Schreiber also serves as president of the Detroit Medical Center Cardiovascular Institute, specialist-in-chief of Cardiovascular Medicine and director of Cardio Team One, an innovative program that provides timely interventions to patients with acute coronary syndrome. He also is the director of the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship training program at Harper University Hospital.
Dr. Schreiber was one of the first physicians in the United States to offer a minimally invasive treatment option for the prevention of stroke in patients with carotid artery disease and has performed more than 20,000 coronary interventions. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology.
