DMC Sports Medicine to host annual Sports Medicine Symposium

Detroit Medical Center Sports Medicine, in partnership with the Wayne State University School of Medicine, will host the sixth annual Detroit Regional Sports Medicine Symposium on July 24-25 at the Westin Book Cadillac in Detroit.

The DMC Sports Medicine program hosts the annual symposium to provide orthopaedic and sports medicine physicians, as well as fellows, residents, physical therapists, athletic trainers and students the opportunity to come together and share best practices. The event includes discussions of current trends in the diagnosis and management of complex orthopaedic injuries, including non-surgical and surgical options, research and evidence-based review, surgical and musculoskeletal ultrasound demonstrations, and breakout sessions.

"This symposium is the culmination of our academic year and we look forward to this annual celebration of innovation in health care for sports injuries," said DMC Sports Medicine President Stephen Lemos, M.D. "Attendees hear about the most cutting-edge advancements from the best in the business, including this year's keynote speaker, world-renowned clinical and academic leader Dr. Robert Arciero, University of Connecticut Health Center professor, chief of Sports Medicine, and team physician and orthopaedic team physician for USA Hockey. There is no other event in this area like this for this growing field and we hope to surpass our attendance of 160 during last year's symposium."

Registration includes all educational programming, from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. July 24 and from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. July 25. Breakfast, lunch and social events are included Thursday and breakfast is included Friday. Valet parking is included and a block of rooms is reserved at the hotel for any participants from out of town needing accommodations.
