When the new TV series Feel Grand with Jane Seymour hits airwaves this fall, Wayne State University School of Medicine Department of Dermatology Chair Darius Mehregan, M.D., and his patient Richard Orndorf, will be among those tuning in nationwide.

The pair attended the June 24 taping of Episode 10 at the Detroit Public Television Studios in Wixom. The episode focused on skin care and melanoma, and featured New Jersey dermatologist Jeanine Downie, M.D., as the guest medical expert, along with host Jane Seymour.

Orndorf, age 55, was diagnosed with melanoma after years of sun exposure from his time working in construction. He was treated by Dr. Mehregan, who was able to successfully remove the cancer. Orndorf's story will be featured in the episode. Today, he is focused on educating his friends and family about the dangers of sun exposure, he said.

During an interview for the show's website, Dr. Mehregan, who also practices dermatology at Wayne State University Physician Group clinics in Dearborn and Monroe, said other skin conditions that can be common among baby boomers include xerosis (dry skin); pruritus (itching); actinic keratosis (premalignant sun damage spots); skin cancer; changing moles; seborrheic keratosis; lentigos (sun damage spots commonly thought of as liver spots); thick or brittle nails; thinning hair; acne rosacea; seborrheic dermatitis; nummular eczema; and medication reactions.

The show is a new, nationally distributed American Public Television series hosted by Seymour, an actress, artist and health advocate. It will feature the country's top physicians discussing what patients need to know about aging. For more information about the show, visit www.feelgrand.org.
