Pair of WSU grads named chief residents of Obstetrics and Gynecology

Two Wayne State University School of Medicine graduates have been named executive chief residents of the Detroit Medical Center/Wayne State University Obstetrics and Gynecology Program for the upcoming academic year.

Rehab Shabana, M.D., and Samara Webb, M.D., both members of the Class of 2009, were selected for their "combination of leadership, academic proficiency and commitment to the program," said Elizabeth Puscheck, chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. "They have worked well together in the past and we expect them to continue to be responsive to the needs of the program and their fellow residents in the challenging year to come."

Dr. Webb performed her undergraduate training at Hope College. Dr. Shabana performed her undergraduate training at the University of Michigan. Both majored in biology, and both were born at the same hospital in Lansing, Mich.
