Dr. Renato S. Roxas Sr., former clinical instructor, dies at age 70

Renato S. Roxas, M.D., a former clinical instructor of the Wayne State University School of Medicine, died Feb. 1 in Henderson, Nev. He was 70.

Dr. Roxas lived in the Detroit-Grosse Pointe area for 45 years and recently retired to Nevada.

He was a pediatric anesthesiologist and served at Children's Hospital of Michigan for 25 years. He was the assistant chair of the Department of Anesthesiology at the hospital, a delegate of Foreign Medical Graduates, the Michigan State Medical Society and was appointed the Philippine Honorary Consul to Michigan.

His son, Renato Roxas Jr., M.D., assistant professor of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, serves as associate program director for the WSU School of Medicine's Department of Internal Medicine Pediatrics Division.

He is survived by his wife, Cristina; daughters, Tricia, Mercedita and Angela; son, Renato Roxas Jr., M.D.; and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Feb. 6 at the Palm Mortuary in Henderson, Nev.
