Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center recognizes two Wayne State Physicians

Paul Orr, M.D., Class of 1957, and Frederick Lauppe, M.D., Class of 1967, were among those honored by the Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center in Ponoma, Calif., at its 2011 Emeritus and Active Physician Service Awards Program on Dec. 2.

Dr. Orr, of Claremont, Calif., was honored for his 50 years of service in the Department of Family Medicine.  He served in a leadership role on many of hospital committees throughout his tenure, including as president of the medical staff.

"I am still in a very active practice with no plans to retire," Dr. Orr said.

Dr. Lauppe, of Walnut Creek, Calif., a specialist in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine and Pediatrics who recently retired, was recognized for his service in the Department of Pediatrics from 1973 through 2011. In addition to serving as the chairman of many committees during his time at the hospital, Dr. Lauppe's distinguished service included serving on the board of directors in 1984-86 and leading the medical staff as president in 1985.

"Each honoree has made a noteworthy commitment to the health and well-being of our community and we are appreciative of this opportunity to thank and recognize these physicians," said Richard E. Yochum, president and chief executive officer.

Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center is a 453-bed acute care, not-for-profit, teaching hospital serving eastern Los Angeles and western San Bernardino counties.
