Third annual Sleep Symposium set for Nov. 14

The Wayne State University School of Medicine and the John D. Dingell VA Sleep Disorders Center will present the third annual Sleep Symposium on Nov. 14.

Scheduled for 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the symposium will take place at the John D. Dingell VAMC in Detroit, Mich.

The speakers and topics include:

J. Ebright, M.D., welcoming remarks.

Safwan Badr, M.D., WSU professor of Medicine, chief of the Division of Pulmonary/Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, "Future of Sleep Medicine, In Lab or Ambulatory Monitoring?"

Anan Salloum, M.D., WSU assistant professor of "Hypoventilation in Sleep 'Can't Breath or Won't Breath?'"

Abdulghani Sankri-Tarbichi, M.D., WSU assistant professor of Medicine, "AASM Scoring Update; Everything You Need to Know"

Dr. Sankri-Tarbichi,  "Polysomnography Scoring Workshop"

Susmita Chowdhuri, M.D., WSU associate professor of Medicine, chief of Section of Sleep Medicine at the John D. Dingell VAMC, "Polysomnography Examples; Facts or Artifacts?"

Christopher Drake, Ph.D., WSU assistant professor of Medicine, and Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences, "Sleep Reactivity and its Relationship to the Risk for Chronic Insomnia"

Basim Dubaybo, M.D., WSU professor and associate Chair of Medicine, "ECG and Arrhythmia Recognition; What Every Sleep Professional Should Know"

Aashit Shaw, M.D., WSU associate professor of Neurology, "Expanded EEG Montage"

Break-out sessions will include "ECG and Arrhythmia" and "Expanded EEG Montage."

Dr. Salloum will give closing remarks and evaluations.
