The Children's Leukemia Foundation of Michigan has named Charles Main, M.D., Class of 1964, to its board of directors.
Dr. Main is the chief of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology for William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Mich. He has served on a number of boards, including the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Hemophilia of Michigan and the American Red Cross.
The Children's Leukemia Foundation of Michigan is a statewide agency working to assist families coping with leukemia, lymphoma and related blood disorders.
Beaumont Hospital established the Charles A. Main, M.D., Pediatric Cancer Survivor College Scholarship Fund in honor of Dr. Main. The fund's purpose is to assist young cancer survivors to pursue advanced education and honor outstanding achievements by current and former childhood cancer patients.
Since its 1992 inception, the fund has awarded more than $600,000 to more than 120 students.
Dr. Main began a three-year term on the Wayne State University School of Medicine Alumni Board in June.
