James Bicknell, M.D., Class of '83, serves as vice president of Medical Affairs for MidMichigan Health in Midland, Mich. He is the first person to hold this title for the organization.

Dr. Bicknell continues to practice his expertise, emergency medicine, through his group, the Midland Emergency Room Corp. He splits his time between administrative duties and emergency room medicine.

"I still love emergency medicine, but when I lost my wife, Nancy, to breast cancer, I needed to find a way to spend time with our three teenagers," Dr. Bicknell said. His children are 15, 17 and 19.

A native of Clare, Dr. Bicknell moved to Midland in 1986. The area is ideal for his hunting and fishing pursuits. He also enjoys saltwater fly fishing for tarpon and sailfish, and golf.

Dr. Bicknell is a member of the Michigan College of Emergency Physicians, and each year plans that organization's golf outing.
