WSU Police : Stolen cars; Meter hours

Vehicles stolen from medical campus area
Five vehicles were stolen from the medical campus area during May. Incidents reported included:

  • a 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport was stolen from Parking Structure #4, at St. Antoine and Canfield, on May 11;
  • a 1993 Dodge Caravan was stolen from John R south of East Alexandrine on May 1;
  • a 1994 Dodge Intrepid was stolen from Brush Street north of East Canfield on May 11;
  • a 2001 Honda Acura was stolen from East Willis east of Woodward on May 30 and
  • a 1998 Buick Park Avenue was stolen from John R at East Eliot.

The Michigan Auto Theft Prevention Authority recently released its annual list of the state's most popular stolen vehicles for 2004. Nearly 85 percent of vehicles on the list were DaimlerChrysler products. To prevent auto theft, the National Insurance Crime Bureau recommends "layered protection," or a system that includes common sense tactics, such as locking your car, as well as audible alarm systems, kill switches and vehicle tracking systems.
