Register for 2006 Children's Conference

The Wayne State University Children's Bridge and Children's Hospital of Michigan's second biennial national Children's Conference, Best Practices to Next Practices: Promoting the Well Being of Children and Youth in Urban America, will be held Sept. 28 and 29, at the McGregor Memorial Conference Center. This event will bring together researchers, clinicians, educators, students, policy makers and community representatives to focus on best practices for promoting the health, education and development of urban children in the United States as well as on disseminating program models for next practices.

Successful programs in four areas will be presented during concurrent sessions:
•  Children at Risk;
•  Language and Learning;
•  Health and Health Disparities;
•  Violence, Abuse, and Trauma.

In addition to highlighting successful programs, conference sessions will present strategies for translating program ideas into practice, methods for measuring and demonstrating program effectiveness, and strategies for locating and securing funding to implement new programs.

National leaders will set the tone of the conference by highlighting the need for evidence-based interventions. Individuals who have investigated, implemented and evaluated successful programs will share their insights. Participants will address the many interrelated challenges in developing and implementing successful programs that benefit urban children and families.
