Main Campus: Funding model for Michigan public universities

President urges Michigan legislature to rethink funding formula
The funding methodology for public universities recently proposed in the Michigan legislature "is a well intentioned but ultimately flawed approach," according to WSU President Irvin Reid. The Detroit Free Press recently published a letter President Reid wrote about the proposal, and in a follow-up letter to students, faculty and staff, the president called on WSU constituents to get involved. Harvey Hollins, WSU vice president for government and community affairs, is coordinating efforts to advance WSU's cause in the legislature, but help may be needed from the WSU community. Details will follow in upcoming weeks. To read President Reid's letter, please visit http://www.freep.com/voices/columnists/ereid10e_20050610.htm.
