HIPAA: Complete security training module

Complete security training module
The Security portion of the HIPAA Rule becomes effective Wednesday, April 20.  This complex and potentially confusing legislation will affect the way in which we pursue many of our day to day tasks.  It is important that you understand this aspect of the federal regulation; failure to comply puts you personally at increased risk of civil and criminal penalties.

To facilitate the educational process and ensure a uniform standard of training, the WSU School of Medicine HIPAA Task Force has prepared a basic training module that provides an overview of this part of the legislation and how it impacts your clinical, educational, and research activities and responsibilities.  The module is short and simple and can be completed quite quickly.

All School of Medicine faculty, staff, students, residents and trainees are expected to complete this training module a part of the compliance program.  To view the training material, please click on the "Training" link on the HIPAA website at http://www.med.wayne.edu/hipaa and follow the instructions.
