AAMC supports Health Partnership Act

The AAMC sent a letter last week in support of the "Health Partnership Act" legislation introduced in the U.S. Senate that would establish a new federal funding mechanism to provide money to states for health coverage initiatives. Introduced by Sens. Jeff Bingaman (D-NM) and George Voinovich (R-OH), the bill would allow states to receive funding without having to apply for it through the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The bill would also create a "State Health Innovation Commission" to monitor the impact of such initiatives and report on their strengths and weaknesses.
